Celebrating ARTWALK’s return to the streets with a bang, Damaru is back for its third time as part of the festival’s programme, this time with a refreshed and contemporary twist to their performances.

Watch Damaru up close and personal as they drum up a lively performance on the streets. Adding an element of surprise, each performance comes with its own twist, be it martial arts, zumba or even music. Don’t miss out on this crowd favourite.

Damaru Singapore

Damaru is Singapore’s School of Traditional Indian Drumming, comprising of enthusiasts and professionals who are passionate and committed to uplifting the craft of traditional Indian drumming.

The school focuses on the folk, street and classical drumming traditions from various states in India, presenting them in a contemporary style that is unique to Singapore. They aim to make traditional Indian drumming a lifestyle in Singapore, building a community of passionate, competent and cultured Indian drummers who uphold its traditions.

Through their works, they strive to create awareness and appreciation for traditional Indian drumming as well as increase its accessibility. They have performed at events such as The Joy of Drumming @ Esplanade and Bhaskareeyam 2022.
